Packages of Care
JenKin Support Services is a specialist semi-independent accommodation provider and support services for young people aged 16 to 19 years old that meet social care eligibility criteria. The young people are assessed by their local authority in accordance with the Children Act (1989/2004) and are deemed to be a child in need without an adult to accommodate.
The Semi-Independent Living provision at JenKin Support Services is a 24-hour multi–disciplined specialist staffed accommodation. The nature of Semi-Independent Living is to help equip young people with the life skills necessary to live independently. As a result, developing regular routine which enhances their quality of life is essential to practice.
Our 24hour unit provide high quality flexible and responsive accommodation for young people and it is supported/monitored by trained dedicated member of staff 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
Our aims and objectives are to:
- Offer planned placements of short, medium and long-term support to young people aged between 16 to 19 years old
- Maintain and support young people in promoting and developing their health, educational and developmental needs in order that they can develop their full potential
- Provide a structured, stimulating, caring and safe environment that is free from any prejudices and which offers young people the opportunity to be listened to and express their wishes, needs and feelings
- Encourage a positive sense of self-image through responding to the young person’s individuality by treating them with dignity and focusing on and reinforcing positive behaviour
- Provide a safe environment where young people can reflect on their experiences, stabilise their behaviour, regain control and find managing tools
- Support young people to achieve their full potential in relation to all aspects and dimensions of their lives and to develop their personal identity and accept responsibility for their own actions ensuring that they are involved in all decisions
- Work in partnership with young people and all other significant relevant people and agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for all young people
- Help and support young people to develop independence skills to enable them to move on into their own home
- Ensure that all staff receive ongoing training, support and guidance to enable them to support the young people to the best of their ability
- In our 24 hour unit we ensure each young person feels that they are in a safe homely environment
- We ensure that shared communal areas for recreation, cooking, and laundry are appropriately equipped and well maintained
- We encourage young people to care about and respect their neighbours and the community as a whole
- We ensure that we help young people acquire essential life skills through our creative learning workshops
- These courses ensure that we help the young person to make informed decisions about their education, employment and careers
- We assist in making necessary links with local employment opportunities and educational or training schemes
- Each young person at Jenkin Support Service has full access to all areas, with their own key to their bedroom and the front door, unless there is an identified risk to either the other placements, the staff or property
- The home is freshly decorated throughout and all bedrooms are fully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a desk
- We have a medium sized fully fitted kitchen with dedicated food storage areas and full use of the cooker, fridge / freezer and washing machine and a lounge area for down time and designated key working sessions. We have a good size back garden

Services
We seek to provide a homely, comfortable, high standard of accommodation and a supportive environment for our young people with a focus on positive outcomes for all the young people in our accommodation.
We are focus on putting in place the correct care for each individual as such we provide a personalised support package, which is led by each young person’s needs. Our main service includes an on-site support, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Friendly and professional staff provide positive role models for the young people we support. They develop relationships with each individual, guiding and encouraging towards increasing self-esteem, making positive changes and reaching goals.

Referral Process
We will require a form and a risk assessment from the placing authority or a completed Jenkin Support Services referral form coupled with the risk assessment will be accepted.
